Site of the Day
Genesis
There is ambitious and then there is ambitious. Independent programmer Gavan Woolery is attempting to create and release an expansive and rather complex massively-mulitplayer online game....all on his own.
From his site:
Take all of the ideas you have about what a video game is or could be. Now throw them out, because Genesis does not comfortably fit into any given genre. Genesis, as the name implies, is about creation. Imagine a storyline that shifts dynamically with your actions. Imagine having the power to create or destroy any aspect of your environment. Imagine being part of a world where your actions have a profound impact. Imagine.
Genesis is the game that creates itself. The actions of the users reshape living conditions, political structures, economies, ecosystems, and all other aspects of the world. Storylines emerge naturally, the same way that they do in real life. Content in Genesis is supplied by the users, not a development team, so every user's experience is unique.
As I said, ambitious. The game is still in the design phase, however this site likes to highlight projects such as these (and you are probably still busy playing Helicopter or Pac-Xon from the last couple posts) from time to time. If you would like to support the project you can look into doing so at the official website. You can also follow the progress of the game on its official blog.
Have 10 to 15 minutes to kill and looking for something a little different to pass the time? Good to hear because this site is dedicated to bringing clips, games & other engaging media, which may be flying a bit under the radar, to the forefront. Have yourself a look around, you're sure to find something to help pass the time.
